POETRY A LA CARTE RADIO SHOW
on WMUA-Amherst 91.1 FM
Mondays from 6:00 to 6:30pm
WMUA is ably run by students, and the Programmer, who has the unenviable job of arranging a continuous, live, on-air series of shows, 24 hours a day, is hard-pressed to get coverage when the UMass students are on vacation. (DJs are usually about half students and half community members). Hence the change in schedule.
Streamed live at http://www.wmua.org/.
The program, hosted by Daisy Mathias, includes reading aloud from past and contemporary poets, and occasionally features live interview and poetry-reading with a local poet.
Poetry at the Leverett Library

WORD IN THE BERKSHIRES
POETRY READING AND BENEFIT for The Denise Kaley Fund
Friday, December 2, 7pm
The Bookstore, 11 Housatonic St. Lenox
(413) 637 3390
Please join us at the first reading for Elephant Tree House's newest book, Inclusion, by Susan Hartung. Hartung's book explores, among many themes, what it is like to live with cancer. The reading will be a benefit for The Denise Kaley Fund for Berkshire County Women with Cancer. This fund supports the day-to-day living expenses of Berkshire women who are living with cancer and have serious financial need.
The Bookstore is a great bookstore, Susan reads her beautiful poems really well, and there's a wine and soft drink bar, too! Hope to see you there.
"Susan Hartung writes gracious, inviting poems about 'love / and cancer, and being joyful anyway.' While a few are darkly humorous reflections on her long acquaintance with cancer, her poetry ranges far more widely. Among the many gems of this collection is a lovely poem about trying to save a lost goat, and one about a funny late-night encounter with her visiting daughter, and another about her son preparing to climb the Wind River Range in Wyoming. But always, in whatever song she is singing, there is the undercurrent of our mortality. In the end, all the poems in this deftly engaging volume are designed to do what poets of large spirit have always done—'burn through,' in Hartung's memorable phrase, 'to what remains of love.'"
—Steve Kowit, author of The First Noble Truth
